Today, it is a well known tourist region with an abundance of hotels. In the past, Vigo di Fassa was one of the first places to be inhabited in the Fassa Valley and for a long time, Vigo was also the ruling centre. It is still today the seat of the Comun General de Fascia.

Vigo di Fassa’s strategic position has played an important role in the economic development of the country: at the sunny meeting point of Trentino, Alto Adige and the Costalunga Pass, at the foot of Catinaccio and Cima Undici, both the peasant culture and the first accommodation facilities in the Fassa Valley began to develop.

Today, Vigo di Fassa is an important and welcoming tourist region. From here, the cable car departs and goes to the Ciampedìe area, a very sunny natural terrace and the departure point for fantastic skiing, walking or high altitude walking.
